THE MUSIC

They say the best songs speak to people. So with that in mind we thought it would make for some good entertainment to gather up a few Nashville songwriters, head down some back roads and let the places and people we find speak to us. Each week a new group of writers will travel to a small town and learn about people’s lives, explore their locale and inevitably be inspired by their stories and the histories of their town.

Like the country and it’s many cultures, the content of the American Song Book is deep and diverse. It becomes even deeper when we add the great music that only a few have heard and sadly, many never will. The world, and especially Nashville, is full of great songs that never get out to the masses. So many songs from talented songwriters fall by the wayside simply because of logistics, limited air space, promotion money, lack of business “know-how,” and personal struggles. Even hit writers have trouble getting some of their favorite songs out because of these things. With this show, we aim to give them an outlet to allow people to hear the songs that deserve to be heard, and we know you will appreciate it.
